How To Prevent Falling Trees!

Here at MasterCraft, we’ve been extremely busy for the last two months. A flurry of snow, wind, and rainstorms have pounded upon the Pacific Northwest for all of 2021, and we’re only six weeks in.

In the midst of the many, many, tarps we’ve had to install, insurance claims to work through, and damaged roofs, we decided to put together this useful guide to watching out for danger problems on your property and avoiding the dreaded fallen trees.

Trees are beautiful additions to any landscape but also pose a hazard and a risk, particularly to your home.

Warning Signs…

  1. Check for raised or cracked soil around the trees in your yard. This could be an indication of root problems.

  2. Check for mushrooms or other fungus growing around the base or the trunk of the tree. If your tree is decayed to this point it will almost certainly need removed.

  3. Is there an abnormal amount of dead branches around your tree? Are most branches dead when they snap off?

  4. Is the tree leaning too far in a certain way? It could be slow-falling in this direction.

  5. Are there any holes or signs of unusual termite or bugs activity?

  6. Are there any dead branches that have come off but are still trapped in the tree? These could fly out or cause a problem at any time.

Conclusion:

MasterCraft is not a tree removal service or an arborist company, and this should not be taken as legal arbor advice, but it’s good to pay attention to these issues as they could affect your roof. Should you unfortunately be having problems due to fallen branches or even a fallen trees, we will gladly work with your insurance to get the best solution for you.
